The Bambace Peterson Team is a residential real estate team affiliated with the brokerage Compass and based in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.[1][2] It is led by Dana Bambace and Mark Peterson, who are sister-in-law and brother-in-law (Peterson is married to Bambace's sister) and were founding agents of Compass's Carmel-by-the-Sea and Pebble Beach office when it opened in 2018.[3][4] The team focuses on the luxury market of the Monterey Peninsula, particularly Carmel-by-the-Sea, Pebble Beach and the Big Sur coast, and also works in Carmel Valley, Pacific Grove, Monterey and the area's gated golf communities.[4][1]
The team has closed more than $860 million in sales since 2018, with 176 transactions on the seller side and 174 on the buyer side, and has ranked as the top Compass team on the Monterey Peninsula every year from 2018 to 2025, based on MLS data.[1] The team was named to the 2023 Leading 100, an annual ranking of top-producing agents and teams in Northern California compiled by LuxeSF and San Francisco magazine with RealTrends.[5] Its highest reported sale is a $14,933,333 oceanfront estate on 17-Mile Drive in Pebble Beach, where it represented the buyers.[6][7]
Both team leaders grew up on the Monterey Peninsula and graduated from Stevenson School in Pebble Beach.[4][8] The team is the exclusive on-site sales team for new homesites at Teháma, the Carmel community conceived by Clint Eastwood,[9][10] and its listings have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Robb Report, the Financial Times and The New York Times.[11][12][13]

Formation at Compass
Dana Bambace began her real estate career in 2006, the year her California salesperson license was issued; she has said that Mark Peterson's mother, Ann Peterson Mahoney, helped her get started in the business.[2][9] Before the team was formed, Bambace describes herself as a consistent top-10 agent on the Monterey Peninsula and says she was the top-producing individual female agent in the Carmel market in 2016 and 2017.[4][14] Peterson received his license in 2015 after a career in technology marketing.[15][8]
In 2018 Compass asked Bambace to help open its first office in Carmel-by-the-Sea and Pebble Beach, and she recruited Peterson to do so with her. After the office launched, the two formally combined their practices as the Bambace Peterson Team.[4][3] State licensing records show Bambace's affiliation with Compass California II, Inc. beginning on June 19, 2018.[2] The team has said that Compass had about 2,500 agents nationally when it arrived on the Peninsula.[9]
Growth and market position
The team's reported cumulative volume has grown from $561 million over 2019–2023, as stated on its Compass profile, to more than $750 million across 318 transaction sides for 2018–2025, and more than $860 million for 2018–2026.[16][14][1] Bambace's biography cites sales of $133 million in 2020 and $182 million in 2021.[4] The team says it has ranked in the top five for total sales volume and transactions in Monterey County every year from 2020 to 2025, in a county with more than 1,200 licensed agents.[1][14]
MLS-derived data on Homes.com attributes 160 closed sales worth about $425.7 million to the team over the five years to September 2026, split between 91 seller-side and 69 buyer-side transactions.[17] In February 2026 the team was part of a group of Compass agents that listed a newly built house on the 14th hole of Pebble Beach Golf Links for $45 million, a listing covered by The Wall Street Journal and Robb Report.[11][12]
Teháma
The team serves as the exclusive, on-site real estate team for developer homesite sales at Teháma, a gated community of about 90 homesites on more than 2,000 acres in the hills above Carmel, conceived by Clint Eastwood.[9][10] The team's recorded sales there include 90 Linea de Fuego, which it listed and sold.[18]

Dana Bambace
Dana Ann Bambace (California DRE #01731448) is a founding agent and team leader.[2][3] Born in New York, she moved to Pebble Beach as a child, and her biography describes 17-Mile Drive as her playground growing up. She attended Stevenson School and Southern Methodist University in Texas, and lived in several major cities while working in fashion and entertainment before returning to the Monterey Peninsula.[4][9] Her listed specialties include luxury and vacation properties, second homes and ranch properties, and she works in Carmel-by-the-Sea, Pebble Beach, Carmel Highlands, Carmel Valley, Monterey, Pacific Grove and the golf communities of Monterra, Pasadera, Teháma and the Santa Lucia Preserve.[4][19]
In July 2023 Bambace and a Compass colleague, Kimberly Ward, drew national attention after finding a 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso, valued at about $1.5 million, in the garage of a Santa Cruz house they had been asked to sell. Bambace connected the heirs with a classic-car broker in Carmel, and the house later sold above its asking price.[20][21][22] Bambace lives in Carmel with her husband, Bryan, and their children; her sister, Mia, is married to Mark Peterson.[4]
Mark Peterson
Mark Bailey Peterson (California DRE #01977162) is a founding agent and team leader.[15][3] Born and raised on the Monterey Peninsula, he graduated from Stevenson School, earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Oregon State University and an MBA from Santa Clara University. His parents, Ann Peterson Mahoney and John Mahoney, worked in residential and commercial real estate.[8][23]
Before entering real estate, Peterson spent about 20 years in technology marketing and public relations, working with more than 40 companies ranging from venture-backed start-ups to Fortune 500 firms, including Microsoft, Seagate and Micron. He also lectured in strategic management and marketing at the College of Business of California State University, Monterey Bay, for 11 years.[23][8] He is a member of the Compass Sports & Entertainment Division.[24]
Peterson served as a director of the Monterey County Association of REALTORS (MCAR) in 2024 and is listed as its president-elect;[25][26] his own materials describe him as president-elect for 2027.[23][6] He lives in Pebble Beach with his wife, Mia, and their two children, and has surfed for more than 35 years.[8]

The team's work is concentrated on the Monterey Peninsula and the adjoining Carmel coast. Its website maintains neighborhood guides for Carmel-by-the-Sea, the Golden Rectangle, Carmel Point, Hatton Fields, Carmel Woods, Carmel Highlands, Pebble Beach (including the Monterey Peninsula Country Club and Spanish Bay areas), Big Sur, Carmel Valley, Pacific Grove, Monterey and Teháma.[34][1]
Carmel-by-the-Sea
Carmel-by-the-Sea, a village of about one square mile known for its storybook cottages and lack of conventional street addresses, is where the team keeps its office and where Bambace built her early practice.[35][14] Homes in the village are identified by descriptive locations such as "Lincoln 2 SE of 13th Avenue", which is how they appear in the team's sales records.[18] The team has handled sales across the village, including the Golden Rectangle, oceanfront Scenic Road, as well as neighboring Carmel Point, Hatton Fields, Carmel Woods and the Carmel Highlands.[18][34] In 2019 it listed the Camino Real cottage used as a location in Clint Eastwood's 1971 film Play Misty for Me.[36] The team says its local knowledge includes the city's design-review and building codes, a recurring theme in client testimonials.[37]
Pebble Beach
Pebble Beach, the unincorporated gated community along 17-Mile Drive that is home to Pebble Beach Golf Links, Cypress Point and Spyglass Hill, is one of the team's largest markets.[38][6] Peterson lives there and Bambace grew up there.[8][4] The team's Pebble Beach sales range from forest-view homes near the Monterey Peninsula Country Club to oceanfront estates on 17-Mile Drive and Palmero Way; its sales of more than $10 million include 3406 17-Mile Drive, 3322 17-Mile Drive and 3204 Palmero Way.[7][18] In 2026 Bambace and Peterson were among the Compass agents marketing 3364 17-Mile Drive, a new house on the 14th hole of Pebble Beach Golf Links priced at $45 million.[12][11] The team has published case studies of Pebble Beach homes on Bird Rock Road and Sunridge Road that it prepared for sale using Compass Concierge.[39][40]
Big Sur
The team also works along the Big Sur coast south of Carmel, where properties are typically remote ridge-top and oceanfront parcels off Highway 1. Its Big Sur sales include homes on Coast Ridge Road, Pfeiffer Ridge, Plaskett Ridge and at the Coastlands.[18] Its Big Sur listings have been featured by the Financial Times, The New York Times and Realtor.com, according to the team's press page.[13][41][42][43] A Big Sur client testimonial on the team's website describes a sale completed within 30 days.[37]
Monterey Peninsula
Beyond Carmel and Pebble Beach, the team represents buyers and sellers throughout the Monterey Peninsula, including Pacific Grove (with oceanfront sales on Ocean View Boulevard and near Asilomar), the city of Monterey, Seaside, and the golf communities of Monterra and Pasadera off Highway 68.[18][4] Inland, it works in Carmel Valley and the Santa Lucia Preserve, and Bambace's biography also lists ranch and acreage properties among her specialties.[4][19]

As Compass agents, the team offers the brokerage's marketing programs, including Compass Concierge, which fronts the cost of pre-sale improvements such as staging, painting and repairs, as well as Compass "Private Exclusives" and "Coming Soon" pre-marketing.[44][45] The team has published case studies reporting gains of 17.4% and 18.2% on two Pebble Beach sales after Concierge-funded preparation.[39][40]
The team produces video tours of its listings, with about 50 property videos on its website and YouTube channel, and has placed sponsored listing features in Haute Residence.[46][47] Client testimonials on its website frequently mention clients selling from out of state, local knowledge of Carmel's building codes and design review, and speed of sale.[37]

Community involvement [edit]
Mark Peterson has served in local leadership roles including Leadership Monterey Peninsula, the Startup Challenge Monterey Bay, the Shugart Scholarship Fund, the Monterey Peninsula College Foundation, the Hospice Foundation and the Stevenson School Alumni Council, and serves on the board of the Monterey County Association of REALTORS.[23][26] Ralph Marsh volunteers with the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Big Sur Land Trust and is a past president and volunteer coach of Carmel Community Girls Softball.[27] The team is a member of the Carmel Chamber of Commerce, and its website says the team leaders sponsor local events and are involved in their children's schools.[35][14]
